Data Cable Installer Job Summary

We have an immediate opening for an experienced Data Cable Installer. You will join one of our job site teams to install Cat 6, 6a cable, wireless access points, switches, fiber, and racks. Job duties include installing new cable systems while keeping clients live, troubleshooting current systems that are causing problems, and changing out hardware. You will be onsite at a specified location with a team. We prefer candidates who have at least two years of cabling experience, but we are willing to consider electrical or construction related skills in lieu of cabling experience.
Data Cable Installer Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pull, route, install, label and test Cat 6 or Cat 6a cable
  • Pull, route, install, test, and label fiber optic cable.
  • Install support structures, including cable racks, j-hooks, innerduct, and other related structures
  • Conduct thorough inspections of cable lines to ensure the system is working correctly
  • Test and troubleshoot issues with network communication
  • Repair jacks, cables, etc. return connectivity.
  • Install wireless AP's, switches, racks.
  • Drill holes in structures and install pipes with fire caulk.

Cable Technician Requirements and Qualifications * High school diploma or equivalent

  • Strong work ethic. (A desire to be at work every day and work until the job is complete for the day.)
  • 2 years of experience running, terminating, testing cable or fiber.
  • BICSII certification preferred or the desire to move toward this certification
  • Construction experience at plus.
  • Ability to use low voltage tools, drills, and other hand tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving history
  • Able to work at tall heights (20') and lift 50 pounds

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
